behind the name
Laura Kiehl was the daughter of Ambrose Kiehl, who supervised the construction of the buildings at Fort Lawton. Laura was four years old when she moved to Seattle, and she graduated from the UW in 1916. She went on to be the first woman in the state of Washington granted a brokerage license. As no brokerage firm would hire a woman, Laura operated her own office for many years in the Smith Tower.
